U.S.News & World Report Ranks Dana-Farber as New England's Top Cancer Hospital
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, for the third straight year, has been rated the top cancer hospital in New England and the fourth best in the nation by U.S.News & World Report in its annual America's Best Hospitals guide.
"We're honored to be recognized as one of the nation's top cancer centers," said Edward J. Benz, Jr., MD, president of Dana-Farber. "This is a direct reflection of our commitment to providing the best possible care today while conducting the research that will lead to better treatments and, ideally, methods to prevent cancer. Working in collaboration with Brigham and Women's Hospital, Children's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, we are intensely focused on helping cancer patients beat their disease."
U.S.News & World Report publishes the hospital guide each year as a reference for patients who are reviewing their medical care options. The National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago developed and conducted the survey. In addition to cancer, the guide ranks medical facilities in 16 other specialties. The overall score is based equally on professional reputation, mortality rates, and a grouping of care-related factors such as nursing levels and technology services.
Dana-Farber provides adult oncology care through Dana-Farber/Partners CancerCare, a comprehensive service that combines the expertise of Dana-Farber, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dana-Farber's extensive pediatric oncology services are offered in conjunction with Children's Hospital Boston.
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a principal teaching affiliate of the Harvard Medical School and is among the leading cancer research and care centers in the United States. It is a founding member of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC), designated a comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute.
