Dame Celia Lipton Farris

Palm Beach resident Dame Celia Lipton Farris earned international acclaim on the stages in London and in New York on Broadway as an actress and singer. She also starred in a number of American television productions. Dame Celia's recordings are still played on the BBC and throughout stations in North America. She is no stranger to honors having received the title of "Dame Of A Most Venerable Order," which was bestowed upon her by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Dame Celia Lipton Farris has long been recognized for her dedication in helping to allay the plight of the world's less fortunate. She was one of the earliest and most generous financial contributors to the American Foundation for AIDS research (amfAR), presenting the organization with a $1 million donation. In addition, Dame Celia has donated and raised tens of millions of dollars for such worthwhile organizations which include the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Children's Home Society of Florida, United Way - Community Chest, Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach, Palm Beach County Historical Society, International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Palm Beach County School of the Arts, Boys and Girls Clubs and the American Heart Association. A testament to her vision, generosity and dedication to her community is the Victor W. Farris Medical Building in West Palm Beach on the campus of Good Samaritan Hospital and named in loving memory of her late husband.

Most recently Dame Celia was awarded the Clara Barton Award by the American Red Cross, the organization's highest volunteer service award.
