Adult Leukemia Program

The treatment team of the Adult Leukemia Program involves many health-care professionals working closely together to provide top-notch patient care and conduct innovative clinical research.

The clinical program is under the leadership of Richard M. Stone, MD, who is actively involved in both patient care and clinical research. The program is a collaborative effort that involves dedicated professionals from several disciplines at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center. Everyone involved in the Adult Leukemia Program, from oncologists to nurses and social workers, has extensive training in and experience caring for patients with leukemia and related disorders. The treatment team includes:

All of the these individuals, as well as members of the Pediatric Leukemia Program team, work collaboratively to develop new and better treatments.

Stem Cell/Bone Marrow Transplant Program Team

The BMT Program comprises of a multidisciplinary team of highly experienced transplantation professionals, including:

  • oncologists
  • oncology nurses and nurse practitioners
  • dentists
  • pharmacists
  • social workers, psychiatrists
  • nutritionists
  • physical therapists
  • financial counselors
  • clinical administrators

Each patient has a primary oncologist and nurse who provides care on an outpatient basis. While in the hospital, patients are cared for members of the transplant program's staff, supported by the necessary hospital personnel and services. After discharge from the hospital, the primary transplant physician resumes responsibility for the patient's care. In addition, patients who need help with housing or transportation have access to resource specialists, who can help them find the services they need.

Specialists at Brigham and Women's Hospital in infectious diseases, gastroenterology, pulmonary, renal, cardiology, surgery, and other disciplines are also available to participate in patients' care, as needed.
