The Pediatric Patient and Family Advisory Council
Meet the Members
Karen Rossman
In 1998, my youngest child, Jenny, then three-and-a-half years old, was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma. She had several surgeries and more than a year's worth of chemotherapy, followed by months of physical therapy to relearn to walk. Now she is doing great, and even plays hockey and has earned her green belt in karate.
I became involved with the Pediatric Patient and Family Advisory Council in 1999, shortly after its creation. Working on the council has been a wonderful experience for me. It has given me great satisfaction to help improve the road for the families that will follow. I have found it healing to give back to an organization to which I will be forever grateful.
I have a supportive husband and three fabulous children, who are involved in several sports, theater, and instrumental programs. They keep me very busy. In my spare time, I'm a registered dietitian and work a few days a week. I also volunteers at my children's schools.
