Brown Bag Working Sessions
These monthly sessions provide an opportunity for Cantor Center nurse scientists, associate clinical scientists and clinical scholars to present “work in progress” related to a research project or planned presentation. Through this informal and supportive venue, individuals can receive feedback and suggestions to improve their project or presentation. Anyone who is interested in presenting at a session, or who would like to be included on a list to receive an email reminder before each month's session, can contact Naoe Suzuki.
Brown Bag Working Sessions Schedule: 2006-07

Working Group Sessions: A support group for scholarly activities
These working group sessions provide a means for staff from DFCI and DF/BWH Nursing and Patient Care Services to obtain assistance with any types of scholarly activities, including developing an abstract for submission to a conference, preparing a PowerPoint presentation or poster presentation, or writing a manuscript to submit for publication.
Clinical Scholar: Collaborative Research and Scholarly Activities
The Cantor Center Clinical Scholar designation for Collaborative Research and Scholarly Activities will be awarded annually to clinical staff from Nursing and Patient Care Services (NPCS) who work in partnership with the Cantor Center on a research or evidence-based practice project, or as a co-author of a presentation given at a professional conference or of a publication in a peer-reviewed professional journal. Each year, the Cantor Center clinical scholars from the previous 12-months will be honored at a luncheon meeting held by the Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) Nursing Research Program in Development.

Research Consultation and Approval Process
This is the first step for anyone from NPCS who wants to carry out a research project. This process serves to prepare the investigator for submission to the DF/HCC Office for Protection of Research Subjects (OPRS) as well as for submission of grant applications to funding agencies.
Consultative services include determining the type of project (research, quality improvement or evidence-based practice), guidance in funding and internal approval procedures, and identification of potential collaborators or study consultants. The NPCS Scientific Review Committee meets twice a month and provides feedback to strengthen applications in order to facilitate institutional approval through OPRS. Learn more about the process.
